Visit to Fellside Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP)

Fellside CHP came online March 1995 and is a combined heat and power plant generating electricity and steam for the Sellafield Limited complex, all surplus electricity being spilt into the National Grid. This event will give an overview of Fellside CHP past and present through a short presentation and plant tour.

Speaker Details/Biography

Simon R Mandale - Spent 10 years with Fellside CHP managing the Operations and Maintenance contract before leaving in 2010 to become head of chemical services for Sellafield Limited. Has a degree in engineering from Birmingham University and has worked in engineering and manufacturing since graduating in 1995.

Cliff Sanders - px Limited Plant Manager based at FCHP for the last two years. A Mechanical Engineer by profession qualifying in 1980 and in addition awarded Chartered Manager status in 2009. Initially worked for twelve years within the petro-chemical and chemical industries and then twenty years in the combined heat and power industry fulfilling various middle and senior management positions.

Maximum of 12 persons no under 16's. Full names needed for site passes. Protective clothing will be provided except safety boots with steel toecap which must be brought with so you can go on the site tour. Mobility - wheel chair access possible for presentation only.
